Your first day in Seoul does not need to become a race across ten fandom landmarks. If you have just arrived, the better plan is to choose one official K-content stop, stay near central transit and leave enough energy for shopping or a cafe later.
This route is built for fans who want a K-pop-flavored day without depending on a specific concert, pop-up or lucky reservation slot.
Start at HiKR Ground
HiKR Ground is the easiest official starting point because it was designed for overseas visitors interested in Korean culture. Korea Tourism Organization describes it as a tourism publicity center where visitors can experience K-pop, media art and Korean travel content in one building.
The useful detail is location. HiKR Ground is at 40 Cheonggyecheon-ro, Jung-gu, Seoul, near Cheonggyecheon Stream and central subway lines. The official site lists the main exhibition floors as generally open Tuesday to Sunday, with entry ending shortly before closing. Check the official page before going because floors, exhibitions and operating details can change.
For a first-day route, spend about 60 to 90 minutes here. Do the K-content floors first, then use the lounge or tourist information area to reset your plan.
Map check: open HiKR Ground on Google Maps before you leave, then save the Korean address in case a taxi driver or map app needs it.
Walk Cheonggyecheon before shopping
After HiKR Ground, do not rush straight into the subway. Cheonggyecheon is directly nearby and works well as a low-effort break after a flight or hotel check-in. It also helps international visitors understand the geography of central Seoul: Jongno, Euljiro and Myeongdong are all close enough to connect without a complicated transfer.
If you want shopping, move toward Myeongdong. It is not the quietest district, but it is practical for first-day needs: cosmetics, character goods, currency exchange, phone accessories and simple food are concentrated in a compact area.
Useful map searches: Cheonggyecheon, Myeongdong Station and Hongik University Station are better starting points than vague English place names.
Save Hongdae for the evening
Hongdae is stronger in the late afternoon and evening than early morning. For K-pop fans, it is useful less as a single “must-see” landmark and more as a flexible district: album shops, photo booths, street fashion, small cafes and busier nightlife sit close together.
The smart version is to arrive before dinner, buy what you actually came for and keep the rest open. If a pop-up or birthday cafe is happening, build around that. If not, Hongdae still works as an easy fan-culture district without needing a reservation.
A realistic first-day schedule
Use this as a loose order, not a command:
- Late morning or early afternoon: HiKR Ground
- Short break: Cheonggyecheon or a nearby cafe
- Afternoon: Myeongdong for shopping and travel basics
- Evening: Hongdae for album shops, photo booths, food and cafes
If you landed the same morning, cut one district. A tired fan with a clean plan has a better trip than a fan who checked five places off a list and remembers none of them.

Opening hours, pop-up locations and cafe events change quickly. Confirm the official HiKR Ground information on the day you go, then search social platforms for any temporary fan events near Myeongdong or Hongdae. Treat fan-made maps as helpful hints, not official guidance.
For a first Seoul trip, the goal is simple: learn the city rhythm, keep your transit easy and save the serious fandom schedule for the day when you are no longer jet-lagged.
